Royal Wiltshire Militia Victorian Officer's Albert shako plate circa 1844-55 .

A good scarce example. Gilt crowned star mounted with Garter bearing domed red translucent Cross of St.George to centre; across the tail of the Garter, a scroll inscribed 'WILTSHIRE'. Retains original horizontal loops to reverse and both pairs of fixing wires behind the Crown. Minor service wear. GC

Origins in four regiments reorganised as Wiltshire Militia 8.11.1758; redesignated Royal Wiltshire Militia 29t.6.1841 at Marlborough. 1.7.1881, it became 3rd Bn. Wiltshire Regiment.
